American singer-songwriter Beyoncé has officially been declared a billionaire by business magazine Forbes, as announced on Tuesday.

Forbes estimated Beyoncé’s net worth early this month. At the time, it amounted to $800m (roughly £593m).

Forbes then confirmed the singer would soon cross the threshold to join the wealthiest musicians in the world, with the result finally coming this week.

She is the fifth musician to reach the milestone, joining pop icon “Taylor Swift”, rock legend “Bruce Springsteen”, Barbadian singer and rapper “Rihanna”, and Beyoncé’s own husband, the rapper “Jay-Z”.

Forbes estimated Jay-Z to have a net worth of  $2.5bn (£1.85bn).

Success after success

The last couple of years have been hugely successful for the former ‘Destiny’s Child’ member.

In 2023, Beyoncé kicked off the ‘Renaissance World Tour’, which earned nearly $600m.

Several dates of the tour were filmed and later released in theatres.

The special event was the result of a deal with cinema chain AMC, and it saw the star gaining almost half of the $44m (£33m) global box office gross.

The following year, Beyoncé released ‘Cowboy Carter’, which earned her her first Grammy win.

The album was a success, and it was followed by another world tour, named ‘The Cowboy Carter Tour’, which earned her around $450m between tickets and merchandise.

From music to business ventures

Among her other ventures, Beyoncé has also been chosen as the face for clothing brand ‘Levi’s’. The ads she filmed for them earned her $10m.

She also played a halftime show for Netflix’s first Christmas Day NFL game, thanks to which she reportedly reaped $50m.

The star is only one of the many musicians who, over the years, have extended their businesses into other fields.

She has a hair care brand, called ‘House of Deréon’, a whisky label (SirDavis, launched in 2024), and she has a collaboration with fitness company Peloton.

Since 2015, she has also been the co-owner of music streaming platform ‘Tidal’.
