K-pop girl group BLACKPINK on Friday released their long-awaited mini album Deadline, nearly four years after their 2022 full-length record, Born Pink.
The mini album features five tracks — “Go,” “Me and My,” “Champion,” “Fxxxboy,” and the single, “Jump.”
Members Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo have previously performed “Jump” during their recent world tour stops, building anticipation among fans ahead of the official release.
Along with the album, the quartet also released an edm-laced music video for their title track “Go” which has gained millions of views just a few hours after its release on February 27.
Million-copy seller
According to the group’s agency, YG Entertainment, citing data from Hanteo Chart, the “Deadline” mini album has already sold 1.46 million copies on the day of its release.
It surpassed Aespa’s 2023 mini album My World, which sold 1.37 million copies on its first day.
“The figure not only sets a record for the group but also marks the highest first-day sales for a K-pop girl group in history,” YG said, as cited by Korea JoongAng Daily.
YG Entertainment also said the new album reached No. 1 on iTunes album charts across 32 regions, while lead track “Go” performed strongly on major domestic streaming platforms.
