Pop star Zara Larsson has shared that Chris Brown won’t be found in her playlist in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, with reasons based on his past of violence against women.

The “Lush life” hitmaker opened up about her music listening habits this week during a Cosmopolitan series titled Cheap Shots

She stated that she has Chris Brown blocked on her music streaming apps, revealing that she doesn’t listen to artists who are “abusers”.

“Name one artist we would never find on a playlist of yours,” said Larsson, reading the interview prompt from a card.

“There’s so many artists I have blocked on Spotify, and all of them are, like, abusers,” she answered.

“You certainly wouldn’t find a Chris Brown song.”

Chris Brown’s abusive past

Brown has a controversial personal history. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to a felony after physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Rihanna suffered extensive facial injuries resulting from the incident after Brown had repeatedly punched her while the couple were arguing.

In 2017, Brown’s ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran was issued a restraining order against the singer for five years after alleging in court that he sent her violent threats over text.

Gender-based violence is an ongoing global health crisis.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), about one in three (30 per cent of) women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence in their lifetime.

Larsson’s distaste for Brown

This isn’t the first time Larsson has expressed her distaste for Brown.

In a 2016 interview video featuring a Tinder-inspired game about songs, she swiped left on Brown’s “Hotel” collaboration with Kid Ink.

“I don’t like him,” she said at the time.

“I do like his music, to be honest. I think he’s a really talented person. He can really dance and sing. But he’s not a nice person.”
