HYPE LABELS has named leader S.Coups and rapper Mingyu of SEVENTEEN as the K-pop boy group’s fourth official subunit, dubbed CxM.

They are expected to make their debut with their first mini album, “HYPE VIBES”, on September 29, 2025, at 6 PM KST, according to SBS Star.

This brings the band’s image to a whole new level of fire and charm thanks to the undeniable magnetic appeal of the duo.

From rumours to reality: the birth of CxM

For months, Carats, the boy band’s fandom name, have shared theories about a partnership between the two members after they were seen recording abroad in places like Hawaii and Los Angeles.

Their public outings, particularly a significant appearance at a Dodgers game, sparked speculation about a collaborative venture.

All speculations were cleared when a teaser trailer for “HYPE VIBES” was unveiled on September 3.

A cinematic teaser with summer energy

A lively and laid-back California atmosphere can be seen in the uploaded teaser video, featuring both members as they relish cityscapes and seaside experiences.

The scenes imply an idea focused on summer vitality and enjoyment, as well as the pair’s innate connection.

The teaser rapidly circulated on social media, with fans showing enthusiasm for the unit’s arrival.

With this, fans should be ready to dig deep in their pockets because “HYPE VIBES” will drop in seven physical versions: Combi, Buddy, and three Compact editions (S.Coups, Mingyu, and CxM), as well as KiT and Weverse QR versions.

It will also be available through streaming and digital download platforms on the day of its release.

Inside the studio: chemistry on full display

Behind-the-scenes clips showcase the pair’s collaboration in the studio, evidencing their excitement and maintaining a professional image as they record the album’s tracks.

Even offstage, S.Coups keeps his fire burning in every rap verse he articulates inside the recording booth.

Mingyu, on the other hand, sprinkles his parts with his natural bubbliness, giving fans a glimpse of their chemistry in the forthcoming release.

The two are known for their playful dynamic since pre-debut, particularly with their never-ending banter and teasing jokes towards each other.

Which is why making S.Coups and Mingyu an official pair for a subunit is no longer a surprise to Carats worldwide, but a dream come true.

Part of SEVENTEEN’s ‘Rebirth Project’

This release comes as part of SEVENTEEN’s 10th anniversary “Rebirth Project”, which has also featured other unit activities, such as BSS (BooSeokSoon), Jeonghan & Wonwoo and Hoshi & Woozi’s “Beam”.

CxM’s debut adds a piping hot flavour and variety to the concepts presented by the other established duos.

Furthermore, the new subunit’s release will boost the group’s ongoing activities despite several SEVENTEEN members being presently in the military.

Carats are also crossing their fingers that the pair will showcase songs from HYPE VIBES during SEVENTEEN’s “NEW_ World Tour”, especially at the Incheon concerts in mid-September.

The following stops of their sixth concert tour include Hong Kong and selected cities in the United States and Japan, slated from the end of September through to December.
