“Lat Mat 8: Vong Tay Nang” (Face Off 8: Embrace of Light), a drama directed and produced by Ly Hai, has begun screening in North America, Australia, Europe, and Asia.
Screenings are being held in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Norway, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Poland, Japan, and Thailand through 3388 Films, as reported by Vietnam News.
‘Face Off 8’ explores youth, dreams, family bonds
“Face Off 8: Embrace of Light” highlights generational differences and delivers heartfelt messages about courage, pursuing personal dreams, and the importance of family love.
The story follows a 17-year-old student with a musical talent who dreams of becoming a musician despite opposition.
He forms a band with friends and searches for opportunities to shine.
The cast includes young and veteran actors such as Doan The Vinh, Long Dep Trai, and Meritorious Artists Kim Phuong and Tuyet Thu.
Released domestically on April 30, the film earned more than VND231 billion ($8.75 million) within nearly two months.

Singer-turned-director promotes Vietnam through films
Hai, once a popular singer in the 1990s, began filmmaking in 2010 and found major success with the Lat Mat (Face Off) franchise, which spans eight films across drama, comedy, action, and thriller genres.
Hai expressed his hope that his works promote Vietnam’s culture and people to global audiences, saying he wishes to spread his love for the S-shaped country, even in small ways.
The first installment, “Lat Mat,” premiered in 2015 and grossed more than VND72 billion ($2.73 million).
The seventh film, “Lat Mat 7: Mot Dieu Uoc” (Face Off 7: One Wish), released in April 2024, grossed VND482 billion ($18.27 million), marking Hai’s highest box office success.
To date, the franchise has generated over VND1.47 trillion ($55.7 million).
