Fiji’s Ministry of Immigration Permanent Secretary Aliki Salusalu has said law enforcement and cyber intelligence agencies are stepping up their efforts in investigating the country’s fake immigration website.
The move comes after tourists expressed concern about the issue, calling it a “serious threat” to safety and national security.
What is the fake immigration website?
“This unauthorised and deceptive site, which was registered on 24 June 2025, is in no way affiliated to the Fijian Government of the Ministry of Immigration,” the official clarified, as cited by Radio New Zealand.
“It has been deliberately created to mislead and defraud individuals seeking immigration of visa-related services.”
Salusalu urged users to only access government services through websites ending in “.gov.fj.”
“Moreover, the ministry is reviewing its protocols and considering legal reforms to strengthen online protection of government systems,” Salusalu continued.
