After a hug on the big screen at a Coldplay concert went viral, US tech company Astronomer was forced to place their CEO on leave as the spectacle was rumoured to involve two of its employees.
In the clip, which was shown on the big screen at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, a man and a woman embraced each other as they danced to the music.
When they realised that their faces were on screen and for everyone at the show to see, they both suddenly ducked and hid away from the camera.
After seeing this, lead singer Chris Martin said: “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy.”
The clip has since gone viral across all social media platforms and has been turned into memes, as well as being widely shown on television programmes.
It did not take internet sleuths long to find out who they thought the couple were: two executives at the company Astronomer.
Company to investigate viral clip
On Friday night, the company then confirmed on X that the person on screen was indeed their CEO and that he had been placed on leave.
Now, the company has made a statement announcing that they are going to investigate this matter, but without specifying the video.
A statement read: “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.
The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”

Interim CEO appointed
In the meantime, the company has appointed their Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy as interim CEO.
The male on the video, which is rumoured to be Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, started with the company in July 2023. He himself has not confirmed his identity in the video.
The female in the video, whom people online believe to have identified as Kristin Cabot, is the company’s chief people officer who commenced her employment there in November 2024. She did not confirm her identity either.
Regardless of the many rumours online, the identities of the people in the video have never been officially confirmed.
Moreover, after a lot of fake statements supposedly from Mr. Byron went viral on Thursday, Astronomer added to their statement that he has never released any personal statement, and reports that claim the opposite are incorrect.
They also said that no other employees of theirs were in the video.
