New signing Bryan Mbeumo has described Manchester United as “the club of my dreams” and vowed to “reach another level” at Old Trafford.
The Cameroon international arrived from Brentford in a deal worth up to £71 million, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract with Ruben Amorim’s side.
He has since joined the rest of the United squad on a pre-season tour of the United States.
Mbeumo excited for United challenge
After a protracted transfer saga that had fans and pundits alike scratching their heads, the Red Devils finally have their man – and Mbeumo is by all accounts excited to get stuck in at the troubled Manchester club.
He told Sky Sports: “As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams, the team whose shirt I wore growing up.
“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday; I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.
“Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future.
“This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans. We are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.”

What does Mbeumo offer Amorim?
Mbeumo racked up 70 goals and 51 assists for the Bees over the course of six seasons, having joined the London side from Troyes in 2019 for a paltry fee of £4m.
That haul included 20 strikes in the Premier League last term as Mbeumo ended up joint-fourth in the race for the Golden Boot behind Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland.
The French-born forward also registered seven assists, delivered a league-high 202 crosses, and clocked the fourth-fastest sprint speed at 36.63 km/h, with his efforts earning Brentford 22 points on their way to a 10th-place finish.
Considering that United have lacked a clinical edge in front of goal for a few campaigns now, notably failing to score in 15 league games last season, the addition of Mbeumo – alongside fellow signing Matheus Cunha – bodes well for their attacking ambitions.
