Robert Pattinson is set to return as the detective Batman.
A time to be alive for Batman fans as Warner Bros has released a letter to shareholders — announcing the production of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman Part II”.
The sequel production is set to start in Spring 2026, while aiming for release in cinemas by October 2027.
Variety reported that the script has been completed by Reeves, according to confirmation by Warner Bros.
Quite a long road for Batman’s return
The road to the sequel was surely a lengthy one for the fans, considering Warner Bros’ announcement of a release delay last year; from October 2026 to October 2027.
Co-head of DC Studios James Gunn explained that the delay is understandable, noting that a five-year gap is common in movie sequels.
“7 years between Alien and Aliens. 14 years between Incredibles. 7 years between the first two Terminators. 13 years between Avatars. 36 years between Top Guns. And, of course, 6 years between Guardians Vol 2 and Vol 3,” said Gunn, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Robin rumors?
Meanwhile, there were rumors online claiming that a certain Robin is set to join the detective. Fans expressed excitement for a possible appearance of the Boy Wonder, following a report from scooper Jeff Sneider.
Sneider claimed that at least one Robin will be featured in the sequel.
However, Gunn recently posted on social media platform Threads that only six of them have read the script.
“I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about the Batman 2,” Gunn posted.
Will the other half of the Dynamic Duo show up? We can say, he may or may not, and we will see.
Something to look forward to in DC
According to Warner Bros’ letter to shareholders, the DC franchise will gradually traverse several projects, which will include movies, television shows, video games, online platforms, and more.
“The 10-year vision for the DC universe also includes an exciting array of television projects, including The Penguin, which recently garnered 24 Emmy nominations and was watched by nearly 20 million HBO Max subscribers, the upcoming new season of Peacemaker, and the debut of Lanterns in 2026,” the company wrote.
