K-pop icon HyunA has publicly addressed the startling incident in which she fainted mid-performance during the Waterbomb Macau music festival on November 9.
HyunA collapsed on stage while performing her hit song “Bubble Pop!” and was assisted by backup dancers and security staff in footage that soon circulated online.
In an Instagram post later that evening, the 33-year-old singer expressed sincere apologies to her supporters around the world.
“I’m truly, truly sorry,” she wrote in the caption, as translated by K-pop news portal Soompi and cited by ABS-CBN News.
“Although it was only a short time since my last performance, I wanted to show you a great performance, but I don’t feel like I managed to be professional.”
The singer also confirmed that she was medically cleared after what happened and “in stable condition”.
Moreover, she pledged to take better care of her health, saying: “I’ll try to build my stamina and consistently work hard in the future. It would be amazing if everything went the way I wanted it to.”
HyunA concluded the post by thanking her loyal fans for their support and understanding.
Past episodes of fainting
The popstar’s management team, meanwhile, revealed that her schedule would be temporarily lightened as she recovers and her situation is monitored.
They further emphasised that her wellbeing remains the top priority.
According to reports, HyunA has had past episodes of fainting due to suffering from vasovagal syncope.
It causes her to black out and feel deep emotional distress very frequently.
HyunA’s parents even had to pull her out of the K-Pop band Wonder Girls soon after the group’s memorable debut in 2007 as a result of the condition.
