Music fans are in for a treat as two former members of the iconic boy band One Direction are set to reunite for a three-part road trip documentary series for Netflix.

Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, who both have a home in Pennsylvania, will go on a road trip in the US, where the musicians are set to have “a spontaneous adventure of reconnection, exploration, and a lot of laughter.”

It will be helmed by Nicola Marsh, who also directed Demi Lovato’s documentary “Child Star”, as well as “Song Exploder and Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story”.

The docuseries, expected to be released next year, will be produced by Campfire Studios, which was behind hit shows like “Unknown Number: The High School Catfish”, “Smartless: On the Road” and “America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders”.

One Direction, formed on British talent show “The X Factor” in 2010, became one of the most popular boy bands of all time, selling over 70 million records worldwide.

Zayn left One Direction in 2015, and the band, whose former members also include Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, shortly broke up. Since then, Louis and Zayn have enjoyed success as soloists.

Remembering Liam

The two are expected to discuss the death of their former bandmate Liam, who died last year after falling from a third-floor hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“The series is a rare look inside the world of two of the most famous – and most private – men on the planet opening up about life, loss, and fatherhood,” a synopsis shared by Louis and Zayn’s representative reads.

“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing,” former One Direction members said in a joint Instagram statement last year.

“In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”

Reunion marks a reconciliation

Directioners are well aware of the significance of Louis and Zayn’s reunion, especially after their bitter spat in 2015, shortly after the latter departed from One Direction.

The two’s feud started when producer Naughty Boy tweeted a picture of himself and Zayn.

Louis then poked fun at the filter used, saying: “Remember when you were 12 and you used to think those Mac filters for your pictures were cool haha! Some people still do HA!”

Zayn quipped, saying: “@Louis_Tomlinson remember when you had a life and stopped making b*tchy comments about mine?”

Since then, the two appeared to have reconciled.

He was asked in 2022 if they were still friends, and hinted that they could reconcile.

Then, in January 2025, Louis attended Zayn’s “Stairway to the Sky Tour” concert in Los Angeles.

“Tonight is kind of special. An old friend of mine is here supporting me tonight,” Malik said from the stage.

“He’s sitting somewhere here. I don’t want to give his location away, but Louis is here tonight.”

Zayn released his fourth album, “Room Under the Stairs,” in May 2024, and he will kickstart his Vegas residency in January 2026.

Meanwhile, Louis is set to release his third album, “How Did I Get Here?” on January 23, 2026, and he is also expected to go on tour to support the record.
