Just like in previous Worldwide Developers Conferences (WWDC), Apple unveiled key changes and innovations to the operating system powering its iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, Apple TV and MacBook technologies.
The annual event had a change in its presentation format compared to past years as Apple opted to focus on Siri powered by Apple Intelligence.
Apple executives previously unveiled changes per product category but this time, it was how the new Siri can help improve the use of their gear.
Opening event
Siri AI is a revamp of the company’s digital assistant, which they hope will be able to answer more complex queries and respond to more personal requests while also maintaining security and privacy.
There are hundreds of changes coming to compatible devices for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27 and tvOS 27, but the event chose to highlight a more powerful Apple Intelligence.
“Apple products are an essential part of people’s lives, and this year we’re bringing powerful new capabilities to empower our users in even more ways,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice-president of software engineering, in a press release.
“We’re delivering the next generation of Apple Intelligence across our platforms; introducing Siri AI, a profoundly more intelligent, knowledgeable and capable Siri; expanding child safety features with intuitive new tools for families; and making our software platforms faster, more reliable and more delightful than ever before.”

Smoother experience
Apple also noted that the new software version is expected to be faster – from executing basic tasks to launching apps – as the team doubled down on a smoother experience for its users.
Other notable improvements include a custom equaliser for Airpods Pro users so they can tailor the sound more to their liking.
Airdrop file sharing will also be 80 per cent faster, while Spotlight, Photos and Mail will be more stable and efficient under the new operating systems.
In addition, a more powerful parental control will be available.

Operating systems
Apple has yet to announce an exact timetable for its new operating systems, but a public beta is expected to be released next month.
A developer beta is already available so apps can be tested ahead of the official release.
If past releases are the gauge, iOS 27 and the other updates are expected to arrive around September, in time for Apple’s release of its new iPhones.
The company does not announce ahead of time hardware releases or comment on leaks, but unconfirmed reports suggest iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a folding iPhone that may be called an iPhone Ultra could be on the horizon.
If the rumours turn out to be true, it will be Apple’s first foldable phone and tech enthusiasts will be eager to see what innovations the company brings to the foldable space, which has been dominated by Samsung and other Chinese phone manufacturers.
Even Google’s version is now on the third iteration – Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold – and Motorola has also joined the fray, so it would be interesting to see what Apple does with the concept.
