Pip Fitz-Amobi’s role as a teenage detective in the small town of Little Kilton becomes increasingly crucial as a new case opens, revealing heavier and more gut-wrenching secrets.
“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” is back for its second season with a darker mystery to solve and revelations that would later leave the young protagonist fearfully pondering over the question: “Who will look for you when you’re the one who disappears?”
When closure becomes impossible
Originally co-produced between BBC Three and Netflix, the series has been receiving positive reviews from both critics and viewers since its release on May 27, 2026.
It marked another successful small-screen adaptation of author Holly Jackson’s bestselling novel series of the same title.
Based on the second book, “Good Girl, Bad Blood”, the story picks up with a conflicted Pip (Emma Myers) who’s almost decided to conclude her detective work after bringing clarity to Andie Bell’s murder.
But Pip’s hopes for closure are short-lived when her friend Connor (Jude Morgan) frantically knocks on her door and seeks her help to find his missing brother, Jamie Reynolds (Eden Hambelton Davies).
Several new characters thicken the plot for the six-episode season while Pip and her loving boyfriend Ravi Singh (Zain Iqbal) play the detective duo once again to put a puzzle of clues back together.
Having a couple work together on a missing person’s case also effectively adds a warm touch to the story amid the tension and suspense.
Season 2 maintains viewers’ suspense as the introduction of new suspects and concealed identities intensifies the unexpected twists in the final episode.

A more mature mystery wins over audiences
A week has passed since the series’ return, and as of June 3, 2026, the second instalment got Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer rising to 92% and its Popcornmeter to 97%.
Critics on the website have so far rated Season 2 a good 7.5 out of 10, while the mentioned audience score in the Popcornmeter equals a 4.7 out of 5 rating, indicating a good start for its comeback.
Fans commended the darker tone and tighter storytelling delivered in this season, highlighting that such improvements gave justice to the second book of the novel series, which was also ranked the most popular among the three.
Myers was also praised for her commitment in playing Pip, whose character proved that you can be determined and vulnerable while faced with the emotional consequences of her previous investigation.
Some entertainment outlets even credited the season’s exploration of the themes of trauma, justice and obsession for a young-adult crime drama.
Pip’s greatest mystery may still lie ahead
Season 2 closes with an eerie final message that her psychological suffering is just the beginning of the actual story – this time, her story.
With disturbing notes connected to the main question – “Who will look for you when you’re the one who disappears?” – this cliffhanger also hints at a potential third season based on Jackson’s final novel, “As Good As Dead”.
No confirmation has yet been made by Netflix, but the ending strongly suggests that Pip’s dip in the ‘morally grey’ puddle could only go deeper.
