Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ reached its epic conclusion on Wednesday, and the world finally waved goodbye to Eleven and her friends.
But it’s not the end for Hawkins, Indiana – with Netflix already looking ahead and planning a spin-off for the show, and two other projects already on the way or ongoing.
‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’, a theatrical show which debuted at London’s West End in 2023 and focuses on Henry’s childhood, is still going strong and recently moved to Broadway.
And there’s also an animated series coming up: ‘Stranger Things: Tales from ‘85’ was announced in April 2025 and it will debut on Netflix this year.
In this story, we take a look at the spin-off project – spoilers ahead!
The end of the campaign
On December 31st, the streaming platform released the last episode of the hugely successful supernatural show, with fans staying up after the New Year’s celebrations to find out the conclusion of a story that enthralled its audience for ten years.
It’s the end of the campaign, as a Dungeon Master would say, and the main story of the show was wrapped up.
But the creators of the show, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, are reportedly already working on a spin-off for the show, although the connections to the original series will not be many.
“We tried as much as possible to answer all the questions as it relates to the characters and mythology of Hawkins and the Upside Down,” Matt Duffer explained.
“We’re really closing the door on that.”
The spin-off, then, “relates in some ways, but it really is a completely different story, in a completely different location with completely different actors and characters. So it’s really its own entity,” he clarified.
“[The spin-off] is connected in some ways to the flagship,” Ross Duffer added.

Fans look into possible theories
Stranger Things’ finale, according to the Duffer Brothers, does not leave hints about the spin-off, either.
The news, however, did not stop fans from diving into speculations and suppositions.
The most popular theory among spectators lies in some details that can be seen in the show’s finale, like the waterfalls Eleven ends up near.
Henry Creel (alias Vecna)’s past could also be explored in a more in-depth manner, especially since the finale revealed his meeting with a mysterious man with a briefcase.
The briefcase contained a rock which gives Henry his special powers and his connection to the Mind Flayer.
It will most likely be a while before we get our hands on the spin-off, but the machine is surely moving.
