Hanoi’s “five city gates” train, officially launched on Saturday, September 6 – offering travelers a fresh way to explore the capital’s landmarks and journey to Tu Son city in Bac Ninh province.
Developed by the tourism sector in partnership with the Vietnam Railway Corporation (VNR), the train had its trial run on August 19, according to a Vietnam News report.
It aims to highlight Hanoi’s cultural and historical heritage, attract more visitors, and revive the role of the railway in city life with improved services and innovative experiences.
Heritage-inspire carriage design
Operated by BHL Tourism Service Trading JSC, the train draws inspiration from the ancient Thang Long Citadel.
Its carriages are named after five historic gates – Cau Den, Quan Chuong, Cau Giay, Cho Dua, and Dong Mac – symbolizing the thousand-year heritage of the capital and the Red River Delta.
The train has five double-decker carriages with 40-60 seats each and two check-in carriages with themed interiors.
