Nineteen-year-old Formula 1 driver Kimi Antonelli has made motorsport history, becoming the first to win his first three Grand Prix after securing a commanding victory at the Miami Grand Prix on May 3.
Driving for Mercedes, the Italian prodigy delivered another composed and strategic performance at the Miami International Autodrome, finishing ahead of reigning world champion McLaren’s Lando Norris and his teammate Oscar Piastri.
The win marks Antonelli’s third consecutive triumph this season, following earlier victories in Japan and China, and further extends his lead in the 2026 Drivers’ Championship.
At just 19, he also stands as the youngest driver to lead the championship standings, underlining his rapid rise in the sport.
The Miami race itself showcased Antonelli’s maturity under pressure.

“This is just the beginning”
Despite early challenges and strong competition from Norris, the Mercedes driver executed a decisive race strategy, including well-timed pit stops, to maintain control and secure victory by a margin of just over three seconds.
Speaking after the race to Al Jazeera, Antonelli expressed both pride and caution, acknowledging the significance of the milestone while emphasizing the long road ahead in the championship battle.
“This is just the beginning. The road is still long,” Antonelli said.
Aside from this, he also credited his team’s execution and reiterated focus on consistency for the remainder of the season.
“We are working super hard and the team is doing an incredible job,” he added.
Fight far from over
With a growing points advantage and momentum firmly on his side, Antonelli has emerged as the standout figure of the 2026 F1 season.
However, strong performances from rivals across McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull suggest that the title fight is far from over.
As the championship heads into its next phase, all eyes will remain on the teenage sensation redefining expectations in Formula 1.
The next race will be in Canada on May 22 to 24.
