YouTuber-turned-filmmaker Curry Barker’s newest horror film ‘Obsession’ became a box office hit from a $750 000 budget.
Focus Features, the film’s distributor, is now boasting the movie’s grossing of $248 million, the company’s most successful film of all time.
Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg has openly praised Barker, saying at a premier of his newest release Disclosure Day that he “loved” Barker’s sophomore film.
With attention from the biggest Hollywood moguls and fans afflicted by anticipation for a new project, the 26-year-old director has already completed the shooting of his follow-up film.
What is his new movie about?
Barker’s third feature film is, naturally, a horror film called ‘Anything but Ghosts’.
The film will follow two fraudsters postured as ghost hunters who encounter real supernatural forces.
Barker himself, as well as Cooper Tomlinson, will play the paranormal investigators.
The film has big names attached to its acting credits, namely Aaron Paul, Bryce Dallas Howard and Violet McGraw.
Barker has explained on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast that this film will be “different” from ‘Obsession’ as audiences can expect more laughs and a film that’s “a lot funnier”.
Focus Features is set to distribute the film, likely hoping for another commercial sensation.

What else is he working on?
Barker has had many offers and projects to juggle since ‘Obsession’ became a blockbuster.
A24 asked the young filmmaker to create a ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ reboot, a film that the director felt inspired by in his younger years.
Barker also disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter that a company approached him with $10 million dollars to fund whatever project he wanted to do.
For now, it seems like the young filmmaker is considering his next career steps carefully.
“I have a lot to weigh and that’s where the stress really comes from. I don’t know what to do next,” he said to The Hollywood Reporter.
