K-pop band BTS etched their names into global music history after becoming the first Asian group to perform at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show.
Sharing the stage with international superstars Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber and other special guests, the seven-member group delivered a high-energy rendition of their hit “Dynamite” at New York New Jersey Stadium.
The landmark show, produced in partnership with Global Citizen and curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, marked a new era for football’s biggest event while highlighting music’s power to unite cultures.
BTS’ appearance represented another defining achievement for K-pop, further cementing the group’s influence on the global entertainment industry.
Their performance drew thunderous cheers inside the stadium and quickly dominated worldwide social media trends as fans celebrated the historic milestone.
‘Making history’
Many ARMY members, the name of BTS fandom, described the moment as “a proud day for Asian representation”.
Online discussions also applauded the group’s stage presence, with many viewers calling their segment one of the show’s standout moments.
“BTS making history again. Real pros after finishing the Europe tour 24 hours ago, well done,” someone commented on a Bighit Music Instagram Reel of the performance.
“Historic moment!! We are so proud of you BTS. Love you so much BTS,” another added.

Television host Jimmy Fallon celebrated the group’s achievement by sharing a photo of him watching BTS’ performance on Instagram.
Meanwhile, popular streamer IShowSpeed met the members backstage, later describing the encounter as “unreal” during a livestream that quickly went viral. He said prior that he is a big fan of the group.
The overwhelming support from celebrities, athletes, influencers, and fans underscored BTS’ worldwide influence.
Many praised the group for elevating Asian representation on one of sport’s biggest stages.
