Disney has officially announced the lead cast for its upcoming live-action remake of ‘Tangled’, confirming Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider and Teagan Croft as Rapunzel.

The project marks Disney’s latest effort to reimagine its animated classics for a new generation, and will be directed by Michael Gracey (‘The Greatest Showman’) with a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (‘Do Revenge, Thor: Love and Thunder’).

Originally released in 2010, Tangled became a fan favorite thanks to its mix of humor, heartfelt storytelling, and award-winning music.

Now, Disney is aiming to recapture that magic with a fresh cast, bold creative choices, and a modern visual style.

A modern Flynn and Rapunzel for a new generation

Milo Manheim is best known for his starring role as Zed in Disney Channel’s Zombies franchise.

With a background in musical theater and a second-place finish on Dancing With the Stars Season 27, Manheim brings a mix of musicality, charm, and comedic instincts – all qualities needed to embody Flynn Rider’s signature wit and swagger.

Meanwhile, Teagan Croft, who gained recognition as Raven in Titans and as Jessica Watson in True Spirit, steps into the role of Rapunzel.

Croft’s past performances have shown she can handle both emotional weight and youthful energy – a crucial combination for a character like Rapunzel, whose arc balances innocence, rebellion, and bravery.

Although Croft’s singing ability has yet to be showcased publicly, her ability to carry emotionally-grounded roles suggests she’ll rise to the challenge of the film’s musical demands – including iconic numbers like “When Will My Life Begin” and “I See the Light.”

A visionary creative team

Directing the live-action Tangled is Michael Gracey, best known for helming the musical hit ‘The Greatest Showman’.

The screenplay comes from Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the writer-director behind Netflix’s ‘Do Revenge’ and co-writer of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.

While a composer has not yet been confirmed, fans are hopeful that Alan Menken, who created the beloved original score, will return.

Music will be central to the film’s success, and with Manheim’s stage experience, at least one half of the duo is already musically proven.

What’s next for Disney’s Tangled remake?

With its lead cast and creative team now officially confirmed, additional casting news – including who will play the formidable Mother Gothel – is still to come, and fans are already speculating online about who might join the ensemble.

As Disney continues reimagining its animated catalog in live action, Tangled represents a unique opportunity that fans of all ages can continue to cherish.
