TikTok on Friday unveiled its “Songs of the Summer 2025” list, featuring tracks that dominated users’ “For You” pages.

The short-form video sharing platform revealed that the Song of the Summer 2025 globally and in the United States goes to “Hold My Hand”, featuring British singer Jess Glyne.

“Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday!”

Fifteen years after it became a hit, “Hold My Hand” became viral because of a trend using audio of British airline Jet2’s advertisement.

The audio, featuring the song’s chorus followed by a female announcer saying “nothing beats a Jet2 holiday” and boasting about saving “£50 per person,” became the soundtrack of viral videos featuring fails, mishaps and disasters during trips.

TikTok said the song has been used over nine million times, including by celebrities like Jeff Goldblum and Mariah Carey.

Glyne said “Hold My Hand” going viral again was “surreal.”

“Music has always been about connection for me, and knowing this song has soundtracked so many happy moments around the world … that’s the most special feeling ever. It’s the song that keeps on giving,” she said.

Old tracks, new viral moments

Like “Hold My Hand,” several songs in TikTok’s Song of the Summer 2025 Global list gained newfound fame years after their release.

Black Eyed Peas’ 2010 bop “Rock That Body” became the No.2 song on the platform globally because of dance TikToks.

“Soul Survivor” by Jeezy and Akon, TikTok’s No.4 song of the summer, went viral 20 years later with the “Holy Airball” trend, where users flex their achievements, unique facts about themselves or special skills.

Also, more than six decades after its release, Connie Francis’ “Pretty Little Baby” became a huge hit on TikTok, becoming the No.5 song on the platform this summer.

TikTok users use the track in their pet and family videos.

Other older songs in the global list include “My Main” by Milla J and Ty Dolla Sign (released in 2014) at No.6, “Suave” by El Alfa (2018) at No.7 and Kesha’s “Your Love Is My Drug” (2010) at No.10.

“My Main” and “Suave” became viral due to dance challenges, while users lip-synced to Kesha’s vocal riff in the bridge of “Your Love Is My Drug.”

Brand new tracks that TikTok users love

There are also two newer tracks on TikTok’s Song of the Summer 2025 list, namely PinkPantheress’ “Illegal” at No.9 and “Shake It To The Max (Fly) (Remix)” by MOLIY, Shenseea, Skillibeng and Silent Addy at No.8.

PinkPantheress’ track from her latest album “Fancy That” became the audio of the “Is this illegal?” trend celebrating friendships, while “Shake It To The Max” shot to fame thanks to dance videos from the likes of J-Hope of K-pop boy group BTS.
