It will be Leo versus Michael, round 1 on February 22nd after “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” topped the nominations for this year’s Bafta Awards.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s politically charged thriller One Battle After Another leads the field with 14 nominations, closely followed by Michael B Jordan and his vampire-horror Sinners, which has 13.
“Sinners” managed to outperform “One Battle After Another” last week at the Academy Award nominations with a record 16 nominations compared to One Battle’s 13.
The Academy Awards will be presented March 15 in LA – round 2 for the acting heart-throbs.
Who is nominated at this year’s Baftas?
The top, most coveted categories featured many similar names to those announced last week at the Oscars ceremony.
Timothée Chalamet (“Marty Supreme”) and Jessie Buckley (“Hamnet”), considered the Oscar frontrunners in the lead acting categories, repeat their nominations at the Baftas.
Alongside Leo, Michael and Timothée, Robert Aramayo (“I Swear”), Ethan Hawke (“Blue Moon”) and Jesse Plemons (“Bugonia”) complete the Leading Actor nominations.
Industry darlings Kate Hudson (“Song Sung Blue”) and Emma Stone (“Bugonia”) are nominated in the Leading Actress category along with Rose Byrne (“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”), Chase Infiniti (“One Battle After Another”) and Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value”).

What films are nominated for the Best Film Bafta?
The Baftas have a Best Film category similar to the Oscars but also an Outstanding British Film category, a way of recognising British talent.
The Best Film category pits big hitters “Sinners” and “One Battle After Another” against ping-pong tale “Marty Supreme”, Shakespeare epic “Hamnet” and Norwegian-language drama “Sentimental Value”.
“Sentimental Value” was the winner of the Grand Prix at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and also appears in the Film not in the English language category.
Nominations for the Outstanding British Film are “28 Years Later”, “The Ballad of Wallis Island”, “Bridget Jones: Mad about the Boy”, “Die My Love”, “H Is For Hawk”, “Hamnet”, “I Swear”, “Mr Burton”, “Pillion” and “Steve”.
Actor and TV presenter Alan Cumming will host the Bafta Film Awards at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 22 February.
