Fans of ‘Legally Blonde’ are getting a fresh look at Elle Woods’ story, with Prime Video releasing the first trailer for its upcoming prequel series, ‘Elle’.

The new television series takes audiences back to the high school years of the beloved character made famous by Reese Witherspoon in the 2001 hit film.

The series stars Lexi Minetree in the title role, stepping into the iconic pink heels previously worn by Witherspoon.

A new chapter for Elle Woods

According to the official synopsis, ‘Elle’ follows a teenage Elle Woods as she navigates life in high school before becoming the fish-out-of-water law student audiences first met in Legally Blonde.

While the franchise has previously focused on her college and professional journey, the prequel aims to reveal the formative experiences that shaped one of pop culture’s most enduring characters.

The recently released trailer showcases Elle’s trademark determination, charm and fashion sense, while introducing viewers to the friendships, family dynamics and challenges that influenced her path.

Reese Witherspoon returns behind the scenes

Although Witherspoon will not reprise her role on screen, the actress remains closely involved with the project as an executive producer.

Through her production company, Hello Sunshine, she has helped bring the new series to life while supporting the introduction of a younger version of the character.

The Oscar-winning actress has frequently spoken about her affection for Elle Woods, a role that helped define her career and became a cultural touchstone for a generation of moviegoers.

The upcoming series marks the latest expansion of the franchise and arrives as nostalgia-driven television adaptations continue to attract strong audience interest.

With a fresh cast, a familiar protagonist and a story that explores previously unseen chapters of Elle Woods’ life, ‘Elle’ is positioned to introduce the iconic character to a new generation while giving longtime fans another reason to return to the world of Legally Blonde.

Prime Video has confirmed that all eight episodes of ‘Elle’ will premiere on July 1, 2026, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the original Legally Blonde movie.
