Superstar songstress Adele is to make her acting debut in Tom Ford’s new film “Cry to Heaven”.
It’s a change of pace for the London-born singer who will star alongside big name actors Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth and Paul Bettany.
Owen Cooper, breakthrough star from Netflix’s huge show Adolescence, also joins the cast list.
Novel adaptation
The film is an adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel of the same name, however no information has yet been released as to which part Adele is to play.
The book is set in 18th-century Italy and follows the story of two castrati from different backgrounds who become successful opera singers.
When it comes to a part in an opera film, Adele undoubtedly has the talent and vocal cords to be up to the job after selling over 100 million albums worldwide and winning 16 Grammy Awards, 12 Brit Awards, an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award.
Adele has mainly been out of the limelight since her massively successful Las Vegas residency ended in November 2024.
The star performed 100 sold-out shows in The Colosseum at Caesar Palace.

New era for Ford
Previously known for being one of the biggest names in fashion, Tom Ford has gone on to make two highly-acclaimed films, A Single Man, starring Firth and Hoult, in 2009; and Nocturnal Animals, which earned him two Bafta nominations, in 2016.
Ford is to direct, produce and write Cry to Heaven.
He sold his fashion house to Estee Lauder for $2.8bn (£2.4bn) in 2022, saying he would “say goodbye to fashion” and “spend the next 20 years of my life making films”.
“I loved making the two films that I made. That was the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire life,” he told GQ magazine.
