Arne Slot has urged Liverpool fans to recreate the atmosphere they generated against Tottenham at Anfield in April – and wants Trent Alexander-Arnold to be part of the celebrations in Sunday’s final Premier League game of the season.
England defender Alexander-Arnold was in the starting XI that dismantled Spurs in a 5-1 rout last month and confirmed Slot’s Reds as kings of England once again.
But the Liverpool star, who rose from the academy into the first team, has incurred the wrath of some Reds fans after announcing he is leaving Merseyside when his contract expires.
Madrid move on the cards
Alexander-Arnold is widely expected to move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and has not been given many minutes on the pitch by Slot, while he was booed by some fans when he came off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal earlier this month.
Conor Bradley has penned a new four-year contract after impressing in the right-back role, and Slot admits he has not decided who will start in the position against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

A day to enjoy
The Liverpool manager told a press conference: “I haven’t decided on that one yet but I think this should be a day that everybody is going to enjoy.
“It has been 35 years. Everyone – Liverpool fans – has been waiting for this moment and we have set the example against Tottenham (the day they clinched the title last month).
“Everyone in the stadium deserves to be there: the fans, the staff but also the players.
“One of my players is Trent so he definitely deserves to be there, because he has been part of an incredibly successful season and incredibly successful few years at this club.
“I can only hope we do it one more time over like we did at Tottenham, and I have a lot of trust in our fans that we can do it again.”
Reds looking for a response
Slot has seen his team take their foot off the gas since prising the Premier League crown from the grasp of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, with the Reds losing 3-1 and 3-2 to Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively in May 2025.
The Dutchman is desperate to end the season on a winning note – and wants another ‘special moment’ against FA Cup winners Palace, who toppled Man City at Wembley to lift the cup.
Liverpool boss Slot added on Sky Sports: “We’ve set the example against Tottenham – I don’t think I’ve ever been a part of a celebration like that day.
“How we arrived at the stadium with the fans singing for us, multiple people telling me they’ve been going to Anfield all their life and never felt a day more special than that one.
“I’m hoping we can add a moment like this to it.”
